Stall Feature of the Month!

Introducing Rachael from Servant Ceramics! Suitcase Rummager regular and Brisbane based potter, who’s love of useful, functional and beautiful vessels earn her a spot in our good books. We caught up with the lovely lass to talk about all things porcelain, making, sharing, and her creative process. Read the full interview below! Can you tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do?  I’m Rachel. I work with clay and love making beautiful, functional and useful vessels. Why do you do what you do? As a child, my parents were passionate about community and loved including people around our dinner table. The simple act of eating together was a powerful sign of inclusion, love and care. I make vessels that can be used to enrich and enhance the daily eating experience. Who are some other artists, crafters, creatives that you love? And why? I really adore: Smith and Others – Matty and Jo craft some absolutely beautiful furniture and are a genuinely lovely couple Meekz Contempoary Jewellery – I have a pair of Jemica’s recycled studs which are always in high rotation use – I love them! Myelectic and The Attic – Anita and Michelle are fantastic Suitcase Rummage stallholder buddies! Since neighbouring them at a SR last year, whenever I hear that  they’ve signed up, I’ll sign up – spending a market with them is always an excellent day!! Reborn Handmade – Renae’s purses and earrings are such high quality work! I have...

Some of these sit alongside the Suitcase Rummage market and as stand alone events. Our most recent addition to our markets is our Community Crafternoon! What is a Crafternoon? It’s craft en masse. A Crafternoon is a casual get together usually between friends (or soon to be friends) where you bring your own craft projects to work on. Our Community Crafternoons combine the concepts of a casual craft afternoon with a craft workshop. You can BYO craft project, share your craft skills with a friend or a stranger, or learn from the Suitcase Rummage team and create a simple DIY craft project. Where can you find one? We set up our Crafternoons at our monthly Pop Up Suitcase Rummage at the Brisbane Powerhouse at NewFarm. So come along and join in the Rummage fun, get down and get...
